Operation Care Package Ohio became a non profit is 2021. The missions began far before that. When the founder, Marisa Rose was just 10 years old. She started raking leaves, doing odd and end chores, and working at her father’s clothing store, Cleveland Uniform inc in Cleveland, to raise a couple dollars.
A group of friends and herself would then combine the money earned and go to local dollar stores to pick up toys, candy, and other items for the children being bussed to her school from a local all boys home. (Cleveland Christian Home). These care packages were given around Easter and Christmas.
Operation Care Package Ohio consists of a board of all woman, and majority of them veterans. This was not planned, and are open to men joining!
In adulthood, the passion to spread kindness remained. Up until 2022, the expenses of hundreds of care packages and gifts were being primarily funded by Marisa herself, so the decision was made to file to become an official 501(c)3, to help further outreach and missions.
The public is welcomed to attend all meetings, and encouraged to join in Community Outreach events. Full transparency is the only way we will succeed, and a great way to showcase exactly where your donations are going.
Thousands of care packages, gifts, meals, and other essential care items are delivered each year throughout Ohio. Families are also asked to nominate deployed soldiers around the holidays.
Donations are also taken to multiple sober living facilities, and Animal welfare groups in memory of Marisa’s dog Sweet Cheeks who has crossed the rainbow bridge.
We encourage families to get the children involved, they are our future.
“Change starts small, and it starts in our own backyard”- Marisa
